VIALL USE FOR THE SOLERIS SYSTEM

The Enterobacteriaceae Medium Vial detection system for the instrument is a peptone yeast extract base with lactose as the carbon source. The selective agents include bile salts, sodium lauryl sulfate, and other Gram-positive inhibitors. Acidification of the medium due to dextrose or lactose utilization changes the pH. Bromocresol purple (BCP) is used as the pH indicator. The BCP changes from purple to yellow as acid is produced from the Enterobacteriaceae’s metabolism.

The BP9 designated-vials are for products with a lower starting pH (e.g., yogurt). This vial is designed with increased buffering capacity to accommodate samples in the pH range of 4.6–6.0 without pH adjustment.
