VIALL USE FOR THE SOLERIS SYSTEM

The Coliform Medium Vial detection system for Soleris is a peptone yeast extract base with lactose as the carbon source. The selective agents include bile salts, sodium lauryl sulfate, and other Grampositive inhibitors. Acidification of the medium due to lactose utilization changes the pH. Bromocresol purple (BCP) is used as the pH indicator. The BCP changes from a purple to a yellow color as acid is produced from the coliforms’ metabolism.

The BP9 designated-vials are for products with a lower starting pH (e.g., yogurt). These vials are designed with increased buffering capacity to accommodate samples in the pH range of 4.6–6.0 without pH adjustment.
